Corsets and bodices~

Bridal corsets and couture bodices are a speciality, produced in vibrant silk from which there are almost endless shades available! They are made for each individual and are so constructed that nothing need be worn underneath. The beauty of a corset is that it flatters all sizes and shapes, and will reduce your waistline by 2 inches or more to give you a better shape.

Some of the corset making reflects methods of production used by the Victorians. There are many types of corset based on various periods of fashion. During the 18th Century they were called stays and a modern equivalent of these is perfect for a bride. Many films can be a great inspiration for a brides dress if she wants it to reflect an certain era of romance.

There are many styles to choose from and a simple corset worn under your dress will reduce your waistline. However a corset can be worn as an outer garment and lends itself perfectly to be worn with a complimentary skirt.

Before construction begins a toile (cotton calico) is made to get a perfect fit and confirm the style.

Each finished bodice or corset can also be embellished with embroidery, lace, flossing, crystals and beads making each one unique, perfectly sculpted to your body. Prices start at £150 for simple  bodices and £200 for corsets.

Dresses ~

Hazel has many styles and ideas for you to consider and can also take designs from your drawings. It is best to make up the dress in cotton before the work begins, establishing the correct fit, then less adjustments are  necessary on the delicate fabric that your dress is made off. A corset or bodice can be incorporated into your dress. To enhance your dress embroidery, applique lace, crystals and beads can be added. The price of a dress varies a great deal depending on the work involved and the style.

Prices start at £100 for a childs dress, £200 for an adult bridesmaid, and from £600 for a wedding gown.

Skirts ~

Various styles of skirts compliment the bodices and corsets. These can be very full with a train, an incorporated net petticoat and an overlay, which softens the style. Other styles include A line skirts or the insertion of a fishtail at the back. Hazel Grace has some unusual designs as well if you require something different. The train can be embroidered or you can have embroidery all around the bottom. With the current emphasis on inserts and godets a simple skirt can be transformed by a fishtail or kick pleats. There are lots of styles to choose from and she has pictures to help make that choice as well as some samples.
